Harsh Reality
The United States are known in the GREEN movement as a major THROW-AWAY society. Yearly the US produces more than 262 million tons of waste and yearly there are 139.6 million tons of waste dumped into American landfills. As of 2018 35.7 million tons of plastic were generated in the united states making up 12% of our MSW. A heaping 40% of food in the united states goes to waste making up 25% of our MSW. Overconsumption, the Amazon effect, and our poor waste management practices are major reasons to blame for the growing waste problem which inevitably results negatively on the world. The average American citizen needs to realize the impact they have on nature and be offered various accessible methods and resources to make positive improvements to their environment. This will empower people to hold each other, corporate companies, and their government officials accountable in the fight against climate change.
